US is so brainwashed

China has been open!!

It's US banning Nvidia chips from being sold there

Its US banning byd form selling in the US protecting their shitty overpriced domestic car industry

Its US thats afraid of open trade and competition

Agree!!

Definitely more open than before.

That being said, foreign Internet companies like Google, Meta & X are still blocked and structurally disadvantaged in China.

Capital investment is controlled very tightly in terms of currency flows and capital transfers too.

& for a lot of tech, gaming and fintech industries Chinese state intervention is off putting still.

For internet companies, user’s information is what they sell, blocking foreign competitors is wise and every country should do so. Not only it gives the country the chance to grow its own tech industry but also it is protecting the wealth of the nation. On the other hand the US should allow the CN car companies to build cars in the US in order to sell.

The discussion wasn’t around why China blocks certain activities, but whether they still do

lol, China isn’t afraid to let more Tesla in, they are not going to be able to compete locally anyway. It’s like telling a middle schooler that he’s welcome to come and compete in NBA.

I would say NVDA is the only one that benefits from sales temporarily while they Chinese catch up on 3nm technology.

Boeing might also benefit from additional plane sales too while their airline industry in China catches up.

But Tesla is screwed. Better and cheaper EVs already exist.

Apple is screwed. Huawei and other phone manufacturers are eating their lunch in China with foldables and other innovative products.

Many other American companies have no shot or will be in trouble in the future (Starbucks, etc).

America now needs China more than the other way around. That’s why Trump and all these CEOs went flying across the world to kiss the ring of Xi.
