NIO Q1 on Thursday
Author hopes NIO beats Q1 earnings expectations with a smaller loss or even a slight profit.
- NIO's expected EPS loss is significantly better than the same period last year.
- Potential for a positive earnings surprise, possibly even achieving a slight profit.
I am wondering if NIO will do better than Market expects. They are aging a loss of -0.08 cents per share to -0.24 cents per share. Which is still 100% better than last year which was -0.44 cents per share.
I would be extremely happy if NIO can back and beat expectations with -0.06 or even -0.04 cents per share. Part of me says it is the calm before the storm and NIO will post a 0.2 cents profit?

Realistically, Q/Q improvement cannot be linear. Just bc they were profitable in Q4 2025, doesn't mean Q1 2026 will be.
So, did he say it will be a global hit? What he say it's correct. Firefly will be global but he never claim it will be main selling product of Nio... Show me a sentence by Li that say firefly will sell 30000-40000 a month or the Main selling product for Nio...
This guy is right. Li has never mentioned that firefly will be a volume driver. In fact, they were expecting just 3000 (approx. 10% of their deliveries).

The fact that it surpassed that last year and even reach 7000/month deliveries last year is the reason why they mentioned it was a surprise to them.

Where did/do you get your information regarding slowing production?
April is usually the slowest month in q2 and still at ~30k deliveries puts NIO at pace for ~90k deliveries for the quarter which would be a 25% increase YoY. And with new models I think it's reasonable they'll deliver closer to 100k for the quarter which is a 38% increase YoY. My forecast is between -.02 and .04 (100 million ish loss) which is a really good improvement.
What will be interesting is if there is any news regarding the chip entity and potential sales of their in house chips and like you said the forward guidance.
As NIO is always punished for only marginally good news I anticipate the stock will take a hit or stay in the pattern it's currently following.
Yes, sales are up YOY, but DOWN sequentially. Nio was barely profitable 4th quarter with higher sales. Profitability ain’t in the cards for the first quarter.

Agreed, no chance for profitability in Q1 but hopefully the loss is narrow. If they can break even in Q2 and be profitable the 2nd half of the year that should achieve the goal of full year profitability.
Q1 is weak for ALL the EV companies.
