Visited NIO and other EV showrooms in Chongqing; blown away by NIO's build quality and Chinese EVs' edge over North American automakers.
- Exceptional build quality of NIO vehicles like ES8 and ES9 impresses even non-car enthusiasts.
- Chinese EVs possess a significant competitive advantage over North American automakers.
Had the opportunity to visit the showrooms in The Halo shopping mall. Sat in the ES8 and ES9 (premarket) and was absolutely blown away by the build quality and so was my girlfriend who has no interest in cars or NIO.
Safe to say I finally understand why North America automakers are hesitant to compete with Chinese EVs - because it wouldn’t be much of a competition.
Saw a bunch of other showrooms too like Li Auto, Xiaomi, Audi, BYD, etc.
The Audi is seriously hideous
Why does the logo look so different?
I don't know, maybe the Audi design team has lost their way, it's so tacky. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy such an ugly car.
Chinese EVs could easily dominate the NA market and drive American auto companies into the ground(no pun intended) unfortunately.
Nio needs to desperately change their front design.. UGGO
I disagree, the front design is visually excellent and unique, qualities that a premium brand needs to be distinct.
