I ordered 300 potenchiometers. 50 of them are the exact ones I ordered, and I want to keep those. However, the other 250 have a 20mm shaft, when I ordered them with a 15mm shaft. It's a 5mm difference, so I may be able to keep them and make them work.
The first 50 I ordered I want to keep, because they are exactly what I wanted. The other 250 are slightly different, so I may still be able to use them, but I would rather the seller send me a second order of what I ordered.
My questions is do sellers usually offer partial refunds where I can keep the item? How do returns work, can I get a refund and still keep the item? The item price was $18, and shipping and fees was $35. It's such a low value order, if I ask for a refund will they let me keep the item?

Pre-shipment inspection would have solved this. You will basically need to negotiate with the seller, if they don't help then escalate a trade assurance dispute.
How much does a pre-shipment inspection cost? The entire order plus shipping and fees was $53.
Then cut your losses, ask for a partial refund and call it a day.
I am asking for help with what my options are. You deciding for me what option I should take, without telling me the options on the table is not helping.
Going back in time is not an option, and if it were, I wouldn't go back in time and spend more money on an inspection than the item is worth.
if you already got the delivery then you cant do anything but for next time arrange an inspection to check before paying in full
try to prove to seller maybe he will give you some or threat them with bad review and open dispute but honestly your chances for success is very low
Does Alibaba have a not as described system like ebay has?
Someone just screwed up and gave me the 20mm versions when I ordered the 15mm version. Or maybe they didn't have what I ordered, so they just sent what was close enough to get the sale.
