Custom duties Canada

Investor summaryNeutral

User asks about shipping and customs duties for small Alibaba orders to Canada.

Post body

Hi there, all new in Alibaba and want to print 50 decals from a seller. One of them said shipping was $35 and another $10 but that it did not include Custom duties. Is this normal for Canada? What should I expect? I also want to purchase 50 glass cups. Many thanks

The shipping quote from an Alibaba supplier often only covers the freight side, not customs duty, taxes, brokerage, or clearance charges in Canada (unless it is DDP).

You should check the CBSA website rather than relying on the seller, because the seller usually will not know exactly what Canada will charge. Generally anything above $20 CAD will have fees charged.

Thanks so much, I'll look it up

No problem! TBH after you spend time organising all this and possibly paying import fees, may just be easier to buy locally.

You run a company, you should be able to look up a HS code and find the associated tariff.
