Alibaba is an absolute nightmare when it comes to customer protection. I paid for an order, the seller has payment issues, and somehow I am the one being treated like a criminal just for requesting a refund.
They are demanding photos of my ID card, selfies with my bank card, and sensitive banking information — supposedly for a refund they could simply reverse back to the original payment method. That is beyond ridiculous.
Even worse, they asked for screenshots/photos of a temporary Revolut virtual card. Revolut itself blocks screenshots for security reasons, yet Alibaba still expects users to expose all their sensitive financial data. Completely unacceptable.
No legitimate platform should require customers to hand over enough personal information to risk identity theft just to get their own money back. These kinds of invasive requests feel shady, reckless, and dangerous.
People should think twice before trusting Alibaba with sensitive documents or banking details. A refund should not require sacrificing your privacy and security.
Dont use alibaba . Dont click on it . Its a shitty plarform and the platform itself is a scam . For 2 weeks i have send them messages that i cant accept to send my personal information and that i demand the refund to be send via IBAN . That is all that they need .
Why did a year go by before you requested a refund? To my knowledge there’s no program alibaba has that guarantees refunds after 60 days of deliver/expected delivery. It seems like they’re making an exception for you and in order to process they are making you jump through additional verification hoops. Unless they want an SSN I’m not sure what the issue is. If you’re worried about the card just request a new one after they approve and cancel.
Revolut’s automated support loop is notoriously brutal for chargebacks. I've watched so many people in the sourcing community pull their hair out trying to get past their bots....Honestly, your best bet to bypass the bank headache is to double down on the Alibaba side. If you paid through Trade Assurance, just keep escalating the dispute. The trick to winning is to spoon-feed the human mediators: upload and circle the exact screenshots in the Alibaba chat where you specifically stated what you wanted before they shipped.

To be fair . I dont really know of they did something :)) ( the bank... ) cause on the thread they had no visible interaction . But i have send some messages from the chatlog and transcript with the bank that stated that alibaba can resend the money . I hope this was the good thing that helped .
The bank statement for me from the bank that encouraged me to not send the data . ,that i sent to alibaba to clarify that i can't send and that is not secure to send all that information .

Its not normal to have expose that data and increase the danger of identity theft ... Especially over a platform that has scammers in it and they don't verify the sellers .
