what bot strategy are you guys actually running in a choppy market?
Author asks about preferred crypto trading bot strategies in a choppy market, favoring Spot Grid and mentioning BYDFi.
Honestly, staring at charts all day has been getting exhausting lately.
I’m thinking about putting a small part of my portfolio into trading bots just so I’m not constantly babysitting every candle. But every exchange has a bunch of built-in automation tools now, and it’s getting kinda hard to tell what people actually use versus what just looks good on the feature page.
Curious what your go-to is in this kind of market:
Auto-Invest
Basically DCA, long-term buying and holding.
Spot Grid
Lower risk, mostly just trying to catch the up-and-down movement inside a range.
Futures Grid
Leveraged grid trading. Better upside if you get the direction right, but obviously liquidation risk is there.
Spot Martingale
Buying heavier on dips and waiting for a bigger bounce to exit.
I’d probably pick Spot Grid personally. I’m pretty risk-averse and I really don’t want to wake up at 3 AM wondering if my Futures Grid got nuked while I was asleep.
Spot Grid is definitely not perfect. You can sell too early during a big pump, or end up holding bags if the market dumps hard. But at least with spot, I’m still holding the actual asset, which makes it easier to sleep at night. With major coins, it feels like a decent way to skim something from the chop without going full degen.
I’ve been messing with BYDFi’s built-in spot grid bot recently and it’s been pretty simple so far. Setup is straightforward, and I don’t have to deal with third-party API keys or anything like that.
What do you guys usually run during sideways markets? Anyone here actually get wrecked by Martingale or a Futures Grid gone wrong?
