Shipping two separate orders possible?

Investor summaryNeutral

User asks if they can combine two separate orders from different companies on Alibaba to save on high shipping costs.

Post body

Hey, all. I placed my first Alibaba order for some gym equipment and is going to be about $1.5k for shipping. It’s still in production, so it won’t ship for another several months.

I found more equipment I’d like to order, but it’s from a different company. Is it possible to ship the two orders overseas together somehow to save shipping costs?

You would need to get the trade terms to be EXW and use a freight forwarder, as in that case the export would not be done under either of the gym equipment companies.

I'd say yes, you can place two separate orders on Alibaba and ship them individually. However, it all depends on each supplier’s arrangement and logistics choice at the checkout, so you should always confirm before paying.

yeah, you can consolidate shipments from different suppliers, but you'll need to use a freight forwarder based near their factories to handle the pickup and combine everything into one container. most forwarders charge a consolidation fee and will ask for packing lists from each supplier, so make sure both companies are willing to coordinate on timing and paperwork. just be aware, if the suppliers are far apart, trucking between factories can eat into any savings.

in case it's useful, my AI sourcing agent SAM checks supplier reputation using social signals and business registries for 40k+ chinese suppliers across 120+ categories. you can learn more at agenceocto.com.

Ah I hadn’t considered factory distance. Good insight!

Awesome, I appreciate the help! I’m still a bit confused how to go about this. How do I coordinate the orders getting combined? Currently my first order is DDP by the seller, so will I need to modify that?
