No tracking number given, a week after full payment

Investor summaryNeutral

User asks for advice after not receiving a tracking number a week after full payment on Alibaba.

Post body

As the title says, I have made the payment in full amount about a week ago. Yet the seller has not provided the tracking number, with the excuse being the goods are still at the warehouse (did not specify whose warehouse) and only when it's loaded they can provide the number.

Is this normal ?

Any suggestions where or how to take this with the seller ?

Since you're still within the agreed 7-10 day processing window, this is actually completely normal. Alibaba isn't Amazon Prime. When a supplier says it's 'at the warehouse,' it usually means it's sitting at a domestic freight forwarder's facility waiting to be consolidated. You won't get an international tracking number until it actually leaves that dock. Paying through Trade Assurance with a credit card was the smartest move you could make though.

What was the agreed order processing time?

It's within the 7-10 days processing time, but I thought it was odd that they haven't got any trails of paperwork. Assuming that 7-10 is just to wait for someone to pick up the goods from their factory / warehouse. This is my first time using alibaba though.

Entirely depends on the shipping method and how it is being sent. Would not worry at this point.

Ok so an update, they have provided me tracking number but the tracking website looks suspicious. Is this legit ? https://logisticsoa.com/Track/

One week without tracking after full payment is a yellow flag, not necessarily a scam yet. "Still at the warehouse" is vague but not unusual for smaller suppliers who batch shipments.

Ask them specifically for the booking confirmation or freight receipt — any legitimate shipment has paperwork before it moves. If they can't provide that, escalate through Alibaba dispute before more time passes.

Did you pay through Trade Assurance or outside the platform?

Paid through trade assurance and credit card. Thanks for the advice

Look for a freight forwarder to help you arrange the shipping next time.
