Lowkey watching Hongqiao after the dividend reset
Author remains bullish on China Hongqiao post-dividend, citing strong cash returns, share buybacks, and green energy reinvestment.
- Strong combination of cash returns to shareholders and business reinvestment.
- Active share buybacks alongside dividend payouts.
- Investments in Yunnan green aluminium and new energy projects show future growth potential.
Not gonna lie, I usually get suspicious when everyone suddenly cares about a stock right before the dividend date. Sometimes it’s just people chasing the payout and then dipping right after.
But with China Hongqiao, I’m still watching it after the May ex-div move because the setup feels bigger than just the HK$1.65 dividend. The part I like is that they’re not only paying shareholders, they’ve also been buying back shares and still putting money into Yunnan green aluminium/new energy projects.
That’s the kind of combo I actually care about: cash return + business reinvestment.
For a stock that still gets treated like a plain commodity name, Hongqiao feels kind of underrated here.
Anyone else watching $1378.HK after the dividend reset?
I'm also watching 1378, but not because I own the stock. But the ETF I invest in (3466) has it - and it is the lead actor. Let's hope it rebounds.
