Why was I charged import fees if Incoterms are DAP?

Investor summaryNeutral

First-time Alibaba buyer is confused about import fees under DAP terms and seeks clarification on DAP vs DDP.

Post body

First time buyer here, I placed an order without talking to the supplier directly, when I placed the order it said import fees included so I thought everything was good. I've now just learned about DAP & DDP and am worrying that I am going to have to pay extra fees. Can anyone provide some info?

DAP = you do taxes, you also need to register it and what type of thing you bought

DDP = they do it for you

I am also in the same situation as OP where I paid the import charges at checkout but the order is DAP. Do the import charges not cover tariffs?

Ignore the textbook definitions in the comments, they missed your actual screenshot. Alibaba already pre-collected the import charges and sales tax upfront, so you won't get hit with surprise fees at the door. If the courier tries to double-dip, just show them this receipt backed by Trade Assurance. What country are you shipping this to?

I prefer dap. So I can be on top of it. It's a slave wage anyway pay the raxes.

Should have asked for DDP. but you would have still paid it in that amount

Before placing an order, your supplier should ask you if you need to pay additional duties or customs clearance capacity, and then help you choose logistics

If it is DDP, the freight you pay includes the tariff and freight, and it will be delivered to your door. DAp does not include the tariff, and you need to pay the tariff yourself
