User seeks chargeback advice after losing $12k AUD to poor-quality Alibaba suppliers and ineffective dispute resolution.

Post body

Hi everyone I ordered from 2 different Alibaba suppliers across 3 orders totalling around $12,000 AUD. The items were advertised as undamaged, high quality goods. What arrived was not that. Both sellers are now ignoring me, and Alibaba's dispute process has gone nowhere.

This is a significant amount of money for me and my brother. I'm trying to figure out all available options:

• Can I do a chargeback? I've tried contacting my bank before for similar issues and they didn't do much in the past, is there a better way to approach them for something this large?

You need to hire a lawyer. Before that, take clear evidence, hire a company to come do a report for you or the Police. Have you purchased via Alibaba or off site? Write a real review. Alibaba won't get involved to help you. What's the link/name of the sellers?

You should initiate a dispute and request a refund. If you maintain a firm attitude, the customer service representative may assist you in getting your money back

Unfortunately, this is one of the most common mistakes new buyers make.

Before sending $12,000, it's usually worth verifying the supplier, checking samples carefully, and arranging a third-party inspection before shipment.

At this stage, I would gather all evidence, including product photos, videos, supplier conversations, product listings, and inspection records (if any), and submit everything to Alibaba and your bank.

Hopefully you can still recover part of the funds.

It might actually be helpful to you with your bank in securing your chargeback because you're under 18 so your contract could be voidable. Gather evidence and do a chargeback immediately.

Share us the details and the suppliers company names we can send them legal notices for compensations and see how can solve this as please explain what you ordered and what you got

Never buy from Alibaba. Should use a trading company that will verify the supplier. Better safe than sorry..

I ordered something, the title said 70cm in

Reality when it arrived, it was only 50cm. I had alibaba trade assurance. Made dispute. Asked for full refund. Send pics with proof of measurements. And eventually got €100 back. Not the full refund i asked for but normal price of the 50cm, so i agreed.

The dispute takes a while. Because he didn't agree, i had to let Alibaba be the middle man.

What items? What payment method? What quantity? What type of inspection did you do? How long have the vendors been on Alibaba

Do chargeback immediately.

Before going the nuclear route with the bank, you need to force Alibaba to step in. If you paid through Trade Assurance, stop talking to the sellers who are ghosting you and immediately click 'Escalate to Alibaba' in the dispute portal. You need to upload crystal clear side-by-side photos of what was advertised vs. what actually arrived.

Hi OP,

It seems that you only want a charge back?

Why not provide more details on your order?

All coins have two sides.

Open charge back with your bank if the goods is damaged and they are ignoring you, they will reply to you very very fast after the bank contact them. I had same case, opened a case now the seller is the one sending me DMs and not me sending them. Your bank will contact them and try to solve the case. You need to submit all the proof to your bank, including all the damage.
