Container returned to carrier

Investor summaryNeutral

First-time Alibaba buyer seeks advice after a large item delivery failed to schedule under DDP terms.

Post body

This is my first time placing an order with alibaba and was for a tv console, so somewhat large item. Had DDP on this order and never got a call from the delivery company to schedule a date. Has anyone ever been through this? I’m not sure what to do, I messaged the seller but still waiting on their response

This often happens to branded products at this point the sender has an option to pay for return or disposal. You should contact your seller.

Honestly, don't panic just yet. This happens all the time with large furniture orders on DDP. The tracking usually goes completely radio silence while the console is out at sea and clearing customs, so local drivers won't call you until it actually hits a regional hub near you. When the seller gets back to you, just ask them for the domestic carrier tracking number so you can see exactly when it gets handed off to the final delivery truck.

How do you know it has been returned?

with DDP, the seller is supposed to handle all customs clearance and last-mile delivery, so if you didn't get contacted for scheduling, it's likely the logistics provider didn't have your correct info or the seller didn't finalize delivery arrangements. this happens sometimes when the seller uses a freight forwarder that doesn't coordinate directly with buyers. ask for the tracking number and local delivery agent details, and make sure the seller confirms who's responsible for last-mile scheduling.

Sorry to hear that. Container returned to carrier usually means the shipment couldn’t complete delivery or clearance, so it’s being sent back to the shipping origin. With Alibaba orders this often relates to customs issues, missing paperwork, or failed last-mile scheduling. Contact the seller and logistics provider immediately for clarification.

Maybe it's not arrived as far.

Do you have your own freight agent, or is the transportation handled by the manufacturer?
