Help with "DAT" meaning

Investor summaryNeutral

User is asking about the meaning of the Incoterm 'DAT' for a purchase on Alibaba.com.

Post body

I am tryin to buy a couple of tool boxes. Seller shows ship to address on invoice as my office/warehouse but also says incoterms "DAT" which literally means "Delivered at Terminal" I understand I am on the hook for some customs paperwork/fees/duty. What I want to make sure of is that the "terminal" is my office/warehouse

Under Incoterms 2020, DAT was replaced by DPU (Delivered At Place unloaded). In Incoterms 2020, the reference to terminal has been removed to make it more general.

Under DAP terms, you are responsible for customs clearance duties and taxes, after which the goods will be delivered to your office.

DAT or DAP? DAP is till door to door excluding tax.

Terminal = airport/port. Should be DAP, P being place of agreed delivery e.g. home, warehouse, business etc.

you need to go confirm the shipping terms

is it being sent by ocean right?

it’s going to be sent to a port and if they aren’t sending it to you that’s all they’ll do and it’ll be delivered to a custom clearance house for you to make final shipping details
