After trying different strats, I now think the wheel is the best longterm strat for $50k+ accounts
Author argues the Wheel strategy is superior for accounts over $50k due to stock appreciation buffer and eventual recovery of quality assets.
- Stock appreciation provides a natural buffer against market downturns.
- High-quality underlying stocks tend to recover value over the long term.
Mainly because a lot of gains will come from stock appreciation. And that serves as a buffer during downturns. And good stocks will recover, eventually.
Every other theta strategy that doesn't involve holding underlying stock is trash and will eventually fail.
Bad sub to post anything wheel related. This sub is basically the /r/wallstreetbets of theta strategies. Mostly juicy-premium-chasing bag holders of shitty companies who hate to see when people win.
Keep wheeling my friend. BORING works. I’m currently +11% YTD with a single digit max drawdown. Almost +40% 1Y with also a single digit max drawdown.
Numbers most of the members of this sub hate to see.

Go the the options wheel subreddit. In there you will find fellow mind liked traders that love strategies that can be written in a napkin with a crayon. Their main guru also scoffs at backtest or other tools used by professionals. You'll feel right at home.
Here you will only find mockery from people that demand silly stuff like evidence of your absurd claims. No bueno
What a shit ass take.
Yeah wow
I'm not confusing anything. Wheel is selling CSP and if, and only if, you decide to get assigned, you sell CC in order to get called and get back to cash. Rince and repeat.
It works until it doesn't
If there was something that just worked, that's what people would do.
Kinda a dumb comment.
May I ask for your strategy that works indefinitely?
That's the fun part. There isn't.
The wheel on SPY is simply capping your upside while also paying extra taxes.
It's more buy/write then wheel.
The longest SPY has ever been without going up in real terms is 23 years. Hardly the going up all the time you claim.
That you don’t know that based on how confidently incorrect you are does not surprise me ;)
Really? Don't tell me you can make money in a bull market...
