US Government to take stake in AI company in coming weeks similar to Intel - Market about to be another record high ?
Trump plans to take a government stake in major US AI firms, comparing it to the Intel investment, potentially boosting the market.
- Government investment provides a strong endorsement and financial backing for AI companies.
- Creates a partnership with the public, potentially leading to favorable regulatory treatment.
- Market optimism as the author suggests it could drive the broader market to another record high.
- Government stakes could lead to increased regulatory scrutiny or political interference.
- The plan is still in the discussion phase with no specific companies named, making it speculative.
US President Donald Trump is planning to meet the bosses of some of the country's most notable artificial intelligence (AI) companies to discuss the government taking a financial stake in their future.
Speaking on Air Force One, Trump said the goal of the US government investing in AI companies was to "create almost a partnership with the American public".
He expects to meet leaders of major AI companies at the White House - likely next week.
Although the president did not name specific companies, the biggest companies in the US working on AI are Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, SpaceX and Anthropic - the latter two of which are expected to go public in the coming weeks.
Trump compared the prospective investment in AI to the US government last year taking a 10% stake in Intel, a company that makes computer chips. He claimed the US has already made money on that investment.
"We're talking about it,"Trump said, referring to conversations with AI leaders "where the American people can benefit from the success of AI, the American people will like it better".
What they need to do is put 400B into the power grid.
That is definitely how the government should invest. Shore up the grid, reduce prices for consumers, lower data center energy bill. Help everyone not just the chosen ai companies that give Trump family a stake.
Ha imagine the government actually doing something for everyday people.
It's not profitable to help everyday people.
Or healthcare
Fucking anything else
I'm a power plant electrician. If I could honestly tell you how bad and unstable our grid is across the country the public would be up in arms. Constant grants that never go to what theyre intended for. Microgrids that are bought installed with state and federal grants but not given proper permits to run. More go green policies keeping plants shut down or unable to operate for certain hours. LNG is so clean to run that the emissions coming out our stacks are cleaner air than what you would be breathing at the beach. We get told not to run from either state DEC or Fed EPA so we purchase power from outside source and just use our transmission lines. It's insane. Then another grant will come pouring in because these turbines were meant to run not stand idle. Massive damage can occur. Those hits get passed on to consumer while we are replacing a perfectly fine engine but weren't allowed to run it as intended so valves and seals etc go bad etc. It's a merry go round of other people's money. Sounds a lot like communism.
Don’t tell them that. They’ll implode
Lol, you think they understand or care?
Which ai company does he need to stay in power and protect him?
Palantir
It'll be xAI, his own little Cambridge Analytics
Socialism! wtf.
I think a bit of China rubbed off Trump when he visited there.
This is not capitalism.
