Trump to meet AI leaders to discuss US investment in their companies
Trump plans to meet AI leaders to discuss potential US government financial stakes in major AI companies.
- US government exploring financial stakes in AI companies indicates strong federal support and partnership.
- Potential government backing could accelerate AI development and infrastructure deployment.
- Government equity stakes might introduce increased regulatory oversight and political interference.
- Loss of operational autonomy if the government becomes a major shareholder.
US President Donald Trump is planning to meet the bosses of some of the country's most notable artificial intelligence (AI) companies to discuss the government taking a financial stake in their future.
Speaking on Air Force One, Trump said the goal of the US government investing in AI companies was to "create almost a partnership with the American public".
He expects to meet leaders of major AI companies at the White House - likely next week.
Although the president did not name specific companies, the biggest companies in the US working on AI are Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, SpaceX and Anthropic - the latter two of which are expected to go public in the coming weeks.

Taking tax payers money and giving it to private companies owned by billionaires is the least socialist thing imaginable, do americans having any fucking clue what socialism is? lmao, this is just straight up crony capitalism
They’re taking an ownership stake in a lot of cases, so it is government ownership of the means of production.
I mean they converge on both ends of the spectrum. Faciscts take control of companies, but socialists do too.
Communists take control of companies. Socialism is not the same thing as communism!
They aren’t even letting the crash happen. This is being done preemptively to keep valuations high.
Prolonging the inevitable will only make the crash worse when it does happen.
Ya that's not really a thing.
I always thought socialism was taking from the rich and giving to the poor. The government owning everything is communism
It's conditional. These companies receiving money must comply with state interests. This is textbook fascism, my friend.
Absolutely nothing you just said is true. Stay delusional
I predict he tries to transfer these shares to one of his family companies when if he leaves office.
ha... hahahah. Where is the /s ... this is going to be some kind of tax incentive bullshit or just straight up giving them $$$ like he is trying to do with the Iran War. What is another $1T on the US debt between friends.
This is kinda like Jenga economics. Keep pulling from the bottom, the people who actually pay taxes, then put it at the top until it eventually all comes crumbling down. Just like Jenga the current president hopes that some other president pulls the piece that makes it fall or if it falls while he is doing it he can claim somebody else bumped the table.
The only example I can think of was GM and Chrysler, and the reason was because they were in distress. GOP also hammered this issue on Obama pretty badly too, which was one of the reasons why GOP won hugely in 2010.
Are you saying the AI companies are currently in distress?
The problem with the AI boom is the amount of energy to match a single human brain that runs on a few amps is not worth it. It never will be.
