15yo girls talking about stocks
Investor summaryBearish
Author claims market top is in after overhearing teenagers discuss buying McDonald's stock, citing the 'shoeshine boy' indicator.
Bear points
- Retail euphoria among non-investor demographics (teenagers) often signals late-cycle market tops.
- Simplistic understanding of equity ownership by the general public suggests excessive speculation.
Post body
Was working a shift at a prominent beach club/restaurant which is popular among families to host their teenagers’ birthday party.
Then I’m walking around clearing plates from a table and I overhear a bunch of 15 yo girls from the birthday party talking about some ‘apparently you can buy a McDonald’s stock and it will be like owning a part of McDonald’s’
It seemed like the convo moved on from talking about shopping to buying a stock in McDonald’s.
