NVIDIA and SK hynix Announce Multiyear Technology Partnership to Advance Memory for AI Factories

Investor summaryBullish

NVIDIA and SK hynix partner to co-develop advanced memory for next-gen AI systems, integrating AI into chip design and fab operations.

Bull points
  • Secures long-term advanced memory supply chain for next-gen AI infrastructure like Vera Rubin.
  • Expands NVIDIA's ecosystem into physical AI, robotics, and personal AI via joint development.
  • Integrates NVIDIA software directly into partner's chip design and fab operations, increasing software stickiness.
Bear points
  • Advanced memory development and AI fab integration require extended cycles and heavy capital investments.
  • Heavy reliance on a single memory partner for critical next-gen memory supply could pose concentration risks.

Availability of memory is a constraint for making GPUs and CPUs. Memory is no longer a commodity but rather an increasingly specialized component being customized for different platforms with only 3 companies able to make the latest memory.
