$GENI is the PLTR of Sports Betting, and its arc is just starting

Investor summaryBullish

GENI holds exclusive data contracts with major leagues, showing strong revenue growth and undervaluation post-Legend acquisition.

Bull points
  • Exclusive data contracts with major sports leagues create a strong competitive moat.
  • Strong Q1 revenue growth and raised full-year guidance validate the leveraged Legend acquisition.
  • Stock is undervalued, trading below its 200-week moving average with a small market cap.
Bear points
  • High leverage from the Legend acquisition previously caused a significant stock drop.
  • Long-term contracts carry the risk of data commoditization or leagues building their own platforms.

Post body

TL;DR $GENI scared everyone with leverage, but when it pays, it pays.

Positions below.

Genius Sports are the brains behind all of your addicting sports bets, and their tech is making them even more addictive. They're the only data contract owners of the major sports leagues like NFL, NCAA, European football leagues (fuck if I know how those work), PGA, and NASCAR being the main positions. Their business thesis is opposite of SRAD, who focuses on smaller contracts with the NBA and other less pricey contractual data agreements.

Their platform uses near instant data feeds for live, in-game bets as well as functioning as a data oracle for transactions on sports moments. GENI sells their data to over 700 betting platforms like DraftKings, and just last month entered a multi-year agreement with Polymarket. They own and develop so much more proprietary data and in-depth sport and \customer analysis\ with the purchase of Legend. That was a risky bet, and was the entire reason the stock dropped last year, as everyone thought they were over leveraged for the buy. Projections from this last earnings proved it was a smart investment. Revenue from the purchase did not even hit this quarter.

An early position here feels very comfortable with the rest of the market froth going on. They're still priced under their 200 WEEK moving average.

Risk: most contracts are out to 2030+, there is potential that data eventually gets spread to other platforms, or the NFL and other leagues start their own platforms. Unlikely, because the NFL is significantly invested in GENI.

The boring stuff:

MC $1.59B

Q12026 revenue of $188M, 31%YoY growth

Q1 $24M EBITDA

Forecast raised for full year to revenue over $990M and EBITDA over $270M.

Will be buying more shares on dips under $6. Options volume is almost non-existent, so options are likely not the play unless that volume booms on price reversion.

lol have you not been paying attention to the entire US in the last year, if it makes money it's legal

Especially if it makes money for the boss or those around him.

The entire social contract is the protection of the many by those that can for the good of all. We have put the fox in charge of the henhouse and now view the weak as a way to fund everything via sin tax. When are we going to wake up and realize we are hitting the same demographic for all of these things and it creates a societal cancer that costs more than the revenue that is brought in via the tax. Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gambling they all prey on the addictive personalities. Broken homes, violence, crime and so much more results. I am not saying we should ban alcohol, but the others are huge problems.

What are GENI’s odds on the chance of me profiting?

Check Polymarket

their algorithms probably calculated you're more likely to hit on a parlay than make money here

but for real the sports betting data angle is pretty solid - everyone's addicted to those micro bets during games and someone has to feed all that real time info

In the ultimate insider trading, I can now use my gambling addiction to feed my gambling addiction. I'm in

GENI is one of those picks where if the market ever actually prices in how addicted people are to live betting, this thing flies. You basically get a monopoly style data choke point on the one industry humans will literally never stop degenerating into. Only real question is if leagues eventually wise up and vertical integrate, but until then I kinda like this as a levered bet on sportsbooks without touching the trash books themselves. Might grab a starter and pray for one more rug to load under 6.
