SpaceX question

Reading/watching the new about SpaceX and my mom was looking at putting a request for 15 shares of the stock. I have little to no knowledge on the stock market, although I do plan to learn more about it in the future. My dad has a general idea of things but my mom doesn't know much about what she's doing. So, for anyone here who has a better understanding of how the market works, could you please give me a better explanation of why buying shares would either be a really good or really poor decision. Trying to go off what the news pages share about the situation feels pointless but I'm hoping some people here would have a better reasoning.
