Advice on value investing and coping from a loss
Author lost money trading CFDs and options, now seeking advice on how to properly start value investing.
Hi everyone, this is my first post in regards to this so somewhat serious as well as casual but long story short I wanted to do investment but I had too many medical bills since i had surgery and chronic condition (incurable with eol regular medication), student debt, family debt. After doing most of it i saved like 19k. The thing is i had money problems coming up with possible loss of job and medical expenses. When war caused stocks to go down i started with investments at the same time saw ppl doing cfd and options trading. It started with 1000 dollars and then i started moving money from my long term stocks due to loss since i thought i was getting the hang of it (i know dumb right). All in all i accepted the first loss of 5k and then few months gone by since i had expenses coming up and then all of sudden market was volatile again with the news of war ending so did cfd on oil selling it unfortunately it went up i lost a lot of money and then i took debt from my credit cards which i am still paying back.
The thing is I thought cfd and option trading are something that a person can do with good analytics but i dont think about it anymore since i feel like its gambling and I never want to and never would do gambling so here I am with a long shot but asking u guys how to get started with value investing the right way and if there are guides or books or good resources that i can follow?
I am not saying I will revenge trade and/or doing this as recouping my lost money. At the same time, I do hope that someday I would be able recover it via this or some other way. Also, I feel like this reddit has some experienced and genuine veterans with stories so I want to ask u guys if I am going the right direction and any advice would be appreciated.
I wish this is my only problem in life and its not even the half of it but I have this habit of doing things the right way which costed me a lot but helped people too which is why i am here looking for the right ways to do this if u think i should.
