People are treating SpaceX like a guaranteed lottery ticket

Investor summaryNeutral

Author criticizes irrational hype around SpaceX pre-IPO shares, warning retail investors blindly bet on Elon Musk while ignoring risks.

Bear points
  • Retail investors likely won't get shares, making expectations unrealistic.
  • Blind faith in Elon Musk causes investors to ignore valuation and risks.
  • The stock could crash hard after the initial hype fades.
Post body

Maybe it’s just me but people are acting insane over SpaceX.

I talk to investors all day and some of these people really think SpaceX is gonna make them rich overnight. They’re calling nonstop asking how to get shares like it’s some secret lottery ticket. Some of them are talking about retiring themselves, retiring their kids, paying off everything, all from buying a few shares.

The thing is nobody even knows if they’re getting shares. Most retail investors probably aren’t getting shit. Yet people are already counting money that doesn’t exist.

And honestly I kinda feel bad. Some of these older people can barely use a computer but they’re spending hours trying to figure this stuff out because they think it’s guaranteed money.

Elon got people thinking he’s a damn god. Doesn’t matter what the valuation is, doesn’t matter what the financials look like, doesn’t matter what the risks are. If Elon is attached to it, people think it literally can’t fail.

Maybe SpaceX ends up being a great investment, maybe it crashes hard after all the hype. Nobody knows.

I just think it’s wild watching people lose their minds over something that isn’t even public yet. The amount of people treating this thing like free money is crazy as hell.

tank to start

It's over subscribed by 400% it's absolutely going up at least until insiders can sell and probably forever

Nice, make sure to post screen shots or it didn't happen

Covering what up? The company admits it.

As did Amazon for almost two decades.

When you're in growth mode you pour every dollar into expansion

This is going to be a spectacle no matter how it goes. Massive group-think in progress. Think 🌷 tulip craze.

GME is still the play for making money. They are going after Ebay

Lmao dude he completely addressed all of your points and you didn't even try to respond, you just got mad and shut down. You said spacex should be massive because of their rocket business, and he literally pulled statements directly from the spacex ipo itself which disagree with you.

Did you read the IPO documents? Because it really doesn't seem like it. Or do you think the documents produced by spacex itself aren't representative of what should make it such a massive company?

It’s really a simple decision. It is going to be by far the most influential company in human history, expanding civilization beyond the earths atmosphere as a stated mission statement is preposterous. A company with a preposterous mission statement that is already profitable by completing side quests like satellite Internet… space data centers around the corner… they will absolutely be a share price drop between IPO and lift off… but if you’re not afraid to park your money and watch it drop a few times it’s a no-brainer. I personally will be waiting for the drop probably 3 to 12 months after IPO I see it going to about $70 a share.

The hype you’re speaking of is exactly what makes it so compelling….kind of how the whole thing works, right? I’m just over here hoping I get out before I get greedy, if I can even get in at all

im treating it as the thing that will bankrupt my 401k in 15 years

u/pirate-minded 1· 2d ago

It’s definitely a winning ticket. For one person specifically

u/Publick2008 1· 2d ago

So I heard that big investors treat Tesla and spacex as government backed, that's why they ignore fundamentals because it's almost an embezzlement scheme for public funds into the stock market

and /r/news where I point out someone is spreading verifiable false information in the comments and I get banned, and other person gets to keep posting. Like wtf, its so blatant.
