Community Update: New Rules on Self-Promotion, Spam, and AI-Generated Lead Generation

Investor summaryNeutral

Moderators announce new rules to ban self-promotion, spam, and AI-generated lead generation to maintain community quality.

Post body

Hello everyone,

As our community grows, we want to ensure it remains a high-quality space for people to ask questions, share authentic experiences, and engage in genuine discussions. Lately, we have seen a massive influx of accounts using this subreddit solely as a free advertising platform to gather business leads.

To keep this community helpful and free of spam, we are implementing new moderation rules, an updated FAQ, and AutoModerator filters effective immediately.

The Core Rule: You must be a Redditor first, not a business first.

We align our community strictly with Reddit’s Official [Self-Promotion](https://old.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion ) Guidelines and [Spam FAQ.](https://old.reddit.com/wiki/faq#wiki_what_constitutes_spam.3F )

It is perfectly fine to occasionally mention your business or services if it naturally fits a discussion, but your self-promotion must make up 10% or less of your total Reddit activity. If your post history shows that you only participate here (or in related subs) to pitch your services, your posts will be removed. If you want to strictly advertise your business to our users, you are welcome to buy official Reddit Ads.

What is NOT Allowed (Examples):

To be completely fair, here are clear examples of what we will be removing:

  • The "AI Lead Gen" Post: Copy-pasting a generic, AI-written informational post, and ending it with your business name, website, or a prompt like "DM me for more info."
  • The "DM Me" Trap: Replying to someone’s question with a vague answer, followed by "I specialize in this, DM me so we can talk about pricing/my services."
  • The Drop-and-Run: Creating posts that only link to your business page, blog, or social media without contributing to the actual discussion in the comments.
  • Unverified/Unsolicited Solicitations: Using this community to actively scout and message vulnerable users to sell them products or services.

Our New Enforcement & Ban Policy

We are trying to protect our members from spammers and scammers. Because of this, we are taking a zero-tolerance approach to enforcement.

If your activity breaks any of the the rules, we will assume that you did not read the rules before posting/commenting or you are probably a bot/spammer. Your post will be removed and your account will be banned.

However, we understand that genuine community members sometimes make mistakes. If you are banned and want to be unbanned, you must message the Modmail with the following four things:

  • A statement explaining exactly why you think you were banned.
  • The specific rule that you broke.
  • An explanation of why that rule is important to the health of this community.
  • A promise that you will not engage in self-promotion or spam here again.

If you send a generic "Why was I banned?" or an angry message without these four elements, the ban will remain permanent.

Moving Forward

AutoModerator will soon begin replying to new posts to remind everyone to read the rules and the upcoming FAQ before posting.

Thank you to all of our amazing members who continue to report spam and keep this community a helpful, authentic place to hang out! Please drop any questions or feedback about these changes in the comments below.
