ITM Illiquid Option- Need Advice

Investor summaryNeutral

Seeking advice on how to exit an illiquid, deep ITM option with a wide bid-ask spread without suffering massive slippage.

Post body

Hi guys, I’m looking for advice on what you think my best course of action would be here. I’m in an options position that is currently ITM by $2.60 The option isn’t trading much with a wide spread $1.20/$3.50 or so. Obviously I wouldn’t want to sell at the bid as it’s much less than the value I could sell the stock for. And any mid point offer probably won’t get hit.

I’m trying to figure out how to get the most out of the trade with as little slippage. My idea was to exercise about 10 contracts at a time and sell the stock in the open market. This would be much easier than selling the option.

Does anyone have experience with what would happen if I carried the ITM options into expiration and just did nothing?

Appreciate any help you can give
