Michael Burry adds to his positions in Alibaba
Michael Burry adds to BABA, citing its leading China AI strategy, ongoing buybacks, and huge upside potential.
- Most advanced AI strategy in China.
- Actively buying back stock, accreting value to shareholders.
- Stock is off recent highs, poised for a fast and high launch when market rewards it.
Burry on Alibaba: “It is the most advanced company in China as far as AI strategy goes, and it has been buying back stock. The value continues to accrete to common shareholders even if the market does not reward such accretion of late. The stock is well off recent highs. When the time comes, the stock will launch fast and fly high. I continue to hold other Hong Kong stocks as well."
Time to celebrate this weekend, before another down 15% week.
I’m in for another 100 when my csp gets assigned

Welcome to the club
He doesn't know....
i bought 20 yesterday 🚀
I keep hearing the stock touted on CNBC but it has looked so bad recently 🤦♂️
Burry buys and sells like there’s no tomorrow 😂. Five years bag holder here!!
Why is this guy revered? He makes the dumbest calls. Made one good call in 08 and he’s still a legend?
Is that good news? I dont follow him, seems to be a logical trader who’s playing some event or undoing of a trend - a contrarian. The latter I subscribe to.
This guy got right 1 prediction and failed in 25363738384 others, but for some reason is cited as the messiah every time he opens his mouth.
Burry is a trader, not a true long term investor. He has jumped in and out of BABA more times than i can count.
He could've made a LOT more money (and saved a shitload on capital gain taxes too) by simply buying and holding.
But the dude is too autistic for that.
Probably why most regards still pay attention to him.
How do you figure? He's swung it multiple times. Even if you bought the exact bottom, you're barely up 2x in multiple years. Trading BABA in both directions has been a gold mine vs. long term holding. That may not be the case forever, but emerging markets in general have more volatility due to currency swings and geopolitical drama.
Curious the source of this quote?
Someday
I bought 100 couple days ago, wasn't because of burry though
