Donald Trump Announces Agreement with Iran to Be Signed Tomorrow
Trump claims a US-Iran deal will open the Strait of Hormuz tomorrow, but Iran denies the agreement is finalized.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the agreement reached between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled to be signed tomorrow. Trump said that after the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz will become “open to all countries.”
Trump noted that relations with Iran are “different and better” than under the previous administration, and said that the agreement in question would not involve any money transfers. Trump criticized the previous Obama administration for “paying hundreds of billions of dollars” to Iran, arguing that such a situation would not occur under the new process.
Trump also commented on Iran’s nuclear program. “Once things calm down, we’ll go in at the right time and take the nuclear dust,” he said. According to Trump, the U.S. will remove the material from its location using B-2 bombers and experienced pilots, then dilute and destroy it either in Iran or the U.S.
Trump also said he expects long-term cooperation with Iran and the Middle East in general, adding that he hopes the process will proceed “quickly, easily, and smoothly.” However, Trump noted that if the process fails, the U.S. has a “final alternative,” and he expressed hope that this option would “never have to be used.”
Last week, the conflict between Iran and Israel flared up again, but as the two sides quickly de-escalated, the possibility of a deal came back into focus.
After US President Donald Trump announced that the US-Iran agreement would be signed tomorrow and that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened immediately, Iran responded with a statement to the contrary.
Iranian negotiators speaking to the Iran-based Fars News Agency said that the agreement had not yet been finalized and would not be signed on Sunday.
