Post body
Given the trajectory of the stock so far, (to the moon, and back to earth - like a reusable rocket) every investing thread on Reddit is filled with every flavour of moron posting “Y SpaceX crash tho?”
I don’t think any of these are real, but curious to get your thoughts. My reasons:
- Everyone KNEW SpaceX was garbage. There was a wealth of high-quality analysis online about the crazy valuation.
- Even if they didn’t know, the people posting have a Reddit account. Anyone with a Reddit account saw this coming because their feed was FLOODED with information about why SpaceX was garbage.
- Even if they didn’t see it coming, they wouldn’t be posting about it now. Again, anyone with a Reddit account would know that Reddit users won’t validate them.
What I think is actually going on: we live in an attention economy. If people are talking about SpaceX, they aren’t talking about other stocks. It’s the 🥭 tactic circa 2016 - all publicity is good publicity. As long as they keep talking about you and not the other candidates, you win.
Curious to get your thoughts.
