Is this level of volatility normal?
Author questions extreme weekly TQQQ volatility, attributing it to shifting market sentiments around AI and geopolitical events.
Really gotten more into the market over the last 12-18 months but been a watcher for years. Question is what is driving all the volatility and is it normal? Its like the market has very few normal days anymore. It either rips 5% or it s\\\*ts -5% on a weekly basis. If you look at 2-5 year charts for TQQQ is somewhat of a grind upwards. Contrast that with the last 12 months and it looks like a child with a crayon drew the chart. Last October to March of this year, it was "AI fears" which then bled into the Iran war. Then everyone just woke up one day and wasn't afraid of AI anymore + some good news on the war and the market ripped. Now 6-8 weeks later everyone is afraid of AI again? It's like the market is schizophrenic.
