Stock market vs AI vs Layoffs

Questions if AI-driven layoffs and stock market gains truly benefit average people, highlighting the disconnect between market prosperity and worker suffering.

Bull points
  • The stock market is experiencing its strongest run ever, driven by AI adoption and corporate profitability.
Bear points
  • AI is largely used as an excuse for massive layoffs, leading to overworked remaining employees.
  • The current stock market prosperity is severely disconnected from the real economic struggles of the average person.

Post body

For the past several years, companies have used AI as an excuse to lay off a massive number of employees. There have been layoffs everywhere, across every sector, including hospitals.

Is AI really an equally effective replacement for humans? If you interview people who survived a layoff, they will tell you that they are being worked to the bone after their teams were reduced. They are being overworked but have nowhere to go, because most jobs are just ghost jobs.

But let’s look at the stock market: this is the strongest market run the world has ever experienced. AI is great. Everyone is getting rich. But in reality, the majority of people have been suffering in silence.

Is AI really good for the average person?
