SSO or QLD and "chill"

Investor summaryNeutral

Author asks whether to invest spare cash in 2x leveraged S&P 500 (SSO) or Nasdaq 100 (QLD) ETFs for a decades-long hold.

Bull points
  • Has spare cash available for a multi-decade investment horizon.
Bear points
  • Questions if holding leveraged ETFs for decades is inherently a bad idea.
  • Nasdaq's recent outperformance is heavily concentrated in a few stocks.
Post body

Got a few thousand I don't need. Everything else is cash, won't be touching unless some major dip happens (probably going to happen anyways).

So I'd like something simple. QLD and forget or SSO and forget? Or both bad ideas? I'm looking at decades here. The case for SSO is diversification, tho the S&P hasn't delivered that well compared to Nasdaq, but that could change anytime since it's a few stocks carrying the funds.

Thanks in advance.
